The story is about Geser, or Bukhe Beligte, who was born as a man, but with many powers of a god. The epic is considered a major text on Siberian shamanism, a religion that primarily concerns itself with living in harmony with oneself and the environment. The epic starts with the creation of the world, and is very long, meant to be performed over the course of several days with a horse head fiddle (moriin huur).
